Matt specializes in complex tenant representation assignments across the US and globe. His responsibilities include a full suite of transaction management services where he consults with clients throughout the entire real estate life-cycle. Matt has developed an expertise in "capital markets-based" transactions where he represents companies or users of space in large single-tenant or anchor-tenant facilities in helping them identify landlord vulnerabilities and develop transparency into the underlying financing of the asset(s) they occupy. Through this approach he is able to use math to quantify landlord returns and value the impact his client's tenancy has on asset valuations, which ultimately results in an equitable participation of that value creation via reduction in rent/occupancy costs or capital/cash generation for his clients. On the personal side of things, Matt grew up in a large family of five kids in the small town of Vinton, Iowa. Funny enough, his twin brother also works in real estate in Chicago. He stuck around Iowa for college and attended the University of Northern Iowa where he double majored in real estate and finance. Although he's technically a Panther, he's a massive Iowa Hawkeyes fan! He's been married to his wife for nearly 15 years and they have a daughter, who is a major daddy's girl, and another daughter arriving soon. When he's not working or wrangling his toddler, Matt likes to travel, invest (companies, stocks, real estate), play guitar, attempt to learn piano, and golf (sometimes well, sometimes badly).
